This course explores active listening and its impact on coaching effectiveness. You will learn how to fully engage with clients, understand both spoken and unspoken messages, and respond with empathy through paraphrasing, reflecting, and clarifying, then practice these skills through interactive listening challenges.

Why it matters: In an experiment, people who received active-listening responses felt more understood than those who received simple acknowledgments or advice (Weger, Castle Bell, Minei & Robinson, 2014, International Journal of Listening). Feeling understood builds the trust coaching depends on.
